Carnival weekend is here and the squares are ready to come alive with shows, masks and float parades. Many themed appointments for the occasion (here all the carnival events), but the weekend of February 18th and 19th there are also excursions, concerts, literary reviews and theatrical performances. Here are some tips for the weekend.
Sunday February 19, from 3pm to 6pm, in the streets adjacent to Piazza Garibaldi, in Vecchiano, appointment with a parade of allegorical floats, masks, philharmonic bands, stalls with carnival items, sweets, donuts and small attractions of the itinerant show.
Two days of festivities in Calci to celebrate the carnival. Between Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February there will be a weekend of entertainment and fun with a masked parade, street bands, musical performances and street food that will transform the country into a little Rio De Janeiro.
To celebrate the Carnival, the Piaggio Museum of Pontedera, in collaboration with the Monte Fantasy Animation association, is organizing an initiative for children and their families on Saturday February 18th. Giant mascots will welcome children to the museum for a nice souvenir photo; Accompanied by music, interactive games and a creative workshop, the families will then take part in the creation of the most famous “Pentolaccia”, but in the form of a Vespa,
An ironic and light comedy about the relationship between man and the environment at the Teatro Nuovo in Pisa with “Il Pelo nell’Uovo”. This is the second show of the trilogy written, directed and interpreted by Ribalta Teatro and will be performed on Saturday February 18th at 9pm. Text and direction are by Alberto Ierardi, Giorgio Vierda and Luca Oldani. On the stage Alberto Ierardi and Giorgio Vierda.
For Sunday 19 February, Fiab Pisa is offering a bike excursion to Filettole’s Segata Tower. Departure is at 9.30am from Piazza dell’Arcivescovado (meet at 9.15am). After a coffee break in Pontassercio, the arrival at the destination is expected around 11.30 am and the return via Ripafratta and Pappiana will be around noon. The route, about 30 km long, follows a mainly paved road with some dirt roads and a final climb of more than 3 km that requires the use of a geared bike.
Saturday February 18 at 6 p.m. in the Sala Titta Ruffo del Verdi Theater from Pisa the third appointment is scheduled at ‘MusicaVerde’, the series of concerts by the young musicians of the Stefano Strata Academy of Music in collaboration with the Pisa Theater Foundation, which also this year wanted to encourage the new generations by offering them a prestigious stage to to present themselves to the city. Three young talents from the Strata Academy specialization courses perform: Antonio Carone, 24 years old, from Bari, guitar Dario Cei, 27 years old, from Pisa, flute, Damiano Bertuccelli, from Viareggio, guitar.
Saturday February 18, from 5.30 p.m., new appointment at Il Fortino Club with “Poetry, poetry. Small excursions into the mind with the verses of the Pisan poets”. Room for the poems of Stefania Bertoni Ferretti and Alberto Albero, two Tirrenians who are able to enchant the reader with their verses. In the second part of the evening, after dinner, it is Veronica Manghesi’s turn.
Sunday 19 February as part of the exhibition “Immagini dal Ventennio. Pisa and the Fascist Regime (1922-1943)”, which can be visited until March 26th, hosts the conference entitled “Mussolini Architect and Urban Planner” in the auditorium of Palazzo Blu.
