A patient undergoing surgery suffered severe burns in an operating room at St John of God Subiaco Hospital in Perth, Australia when a fire broke out.
The injured patient was transferred to Fiona Stanley Hospital, which has a specialized burns department. He is said to be in critical but stable condition.
It was unclear whether hospital staff were injured in the accident.

Acting Director of St. John of God Subiaco Hospital Jenny Brenton confirms that a “serious incident” has occurred that has resulted in an “adverse effect on a patient.”
“We are unable to comment further on the circumstances and details due to data protection laws,” she added.
