Telework will remain judges Isabelle Marechal

“Telework will remain,” judges Isabelle Maréchal

Employers need to realize teleworking isn’t going away, Isabelle Maréchal believes after a survey confirming workers want to stay at home.

“For me, telecommuting is here to stay,” the columnist began while discussing the topic with Mario Dumont on QUB Radio’s mic on Tuesday.

According to a survey, 85% of workers say they are looking for a mixed position or full remote work, while only 22% of jobs offer this option.

This data prompts Isabelle Maréchal to say that “employers need to be wide awake” and stop believing that their employees need to be at the office on time every day.

“That’s over. You don’t have to think like that anymore. It’s not what decides whether your employee is productive or not,” the columnist pointed out.

The survey also shows that 16% of workers are willing to accept a lower salary to be able to work remotely, a rate that rises to 32% for parents and 33% for 18-35 year olds.

“I think the future will be some kind of mix. I firmly believe in the hybrid phenomenon. At some point we are humans, we are not robots and we need to see each other. […] We have to find that balance,” Ms. Maréchal concluded.
