EDMONTON, Alberta — Connor McDavid had 800 career points and scored his 43rd and 44th third-half goals of the season to give the Edmonton Oilers a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.

McDavid also assisted Leon Draisaitl’s equalizer early in game three, with McDavid earning his 800th point and Draisaitl his 700th of the game.

In his 545th game, McDavid became the fifth fastest player in NHL history to hit the bull’s eye, behind Wayne Gretzky (352 games), Mario Lemieux (410), Mike Bossy (525) and Peter Stastny (531).

McDavid gave the Oilers a 7-21 lead when his pass was deflected by Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim. McDavid then scored a shorthanded goal into an empty net with 2:25 left.

“You have to win games without your ‘A’ stuff,” McDavid said. “It’s a cliché that good teams find a way to win when they don’t have their stuff and that was tonight. We did just enough to win. It will take a lot more to win on track but give the guys credit.

McDavid leads the NHL with 105 goals and points.

Draisaitl also had two assists, Tyson Barrie scored and Stuart Skinner made 23 saves. The Oilers broke a four-game losing streak to improve to 31-19-8.

Noah Cates and Owen Tippett scored for Philadelphia.

“I thought the team interpreted it that way. They did everything we asked of them and we played a tough game. We just couldn’t find a way to win,” said Flyers coach John Tortorella. “We played the right way. We did everything to win a hockey game and we can’t find a way to do it. But I think the group did very well on this journey, it’s been a long journey .”
