ANKARA, Feb. 21 (Xinhua). At least six people were killed and 294 others injured in the latest earthquakes in Turkey’s southern province of Hatay on Monday, the country’s disaster management agency said on Tuesday.

The twin quakes, measuring magnitudes 6.4 and 5.8, came two weeks after strong tremors struck the same region on February 6, killing more than 41,000 people.

The first earthquake, measuring 6.4 magnitude, struck the Defne district of the aforementioned province at around 20:04 local time (17:04 GMT), and the second, measuring 5.8 magnitude, was recorded three minutes later, with its epicenter in Samandag district, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority.

Hatay residents whose homes were damaged or destroyed flocked to the bus station and began leaving the province, NTV reported on Tuesday.
