The family of Julia, a young woman who claims to be little Maddie, who disappeared in Portugal in 2007, reacted on social networks, assuring that it was not Madeleine McCann.

“For us as a family, it goes without saying that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and niece-in-law. We have memories, we have photos,” say people close to her. In a press release shared on Facebook, the family said they were “devastated” by the situation and described a young woman who was suffering from psychiatric disorders.
“She always wanted to be popular”
“We always tried to help her back on her feet. Julia has been of legal age for a few years. She has moved out, refuses treatment and does not take medication regularly. (…) Julia didn’t have either and took the opportunity to be treated in a very good center in Poland, which agreed,” wrote the family.

According to those close to her, the young woman, who created an Instagram account called “iammadelemccann” and expressed doubts about her identity on social networks, “wanted to be a singer, a model. She always wanted to be popular. For her part, the young woman is still demanding a DNA test, which her family would have rejected because it is “obvious to her that Julia is not Maddie”.
