Relatives of young Julia Wendell, who gained popularity on social media after claiming she was missing girl Madeleine McCain, said they were “devastated” by the situation and said they had evidence of the in’s childhood girl born in Poland.
In a publication by the NGO Missing Years Ago, Julia’s relatives stated that she was suffering from psychiatric problems and that she was refusing treatment.
They declared themselves surprised at the response of the profile in which Julia claims to be the missing girl in 2007.
“It is obvious to us as family members that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister and cousin. We have memories, photos. Julia also has these photos. She took the pictures of her childhood home, as well as her birth certificate and all the hospital bulletins,” he said.
“We asked them to stop, we tried to prevent it,” the statement said.

Julia Faustyna, 21, posts montages and “evidence” on an Instagram page that led her to believe in the possibility of being Madeleine McCann, a girl who disappeared in Portugal in 2007 at the age of 3.
The woman says she needs a DNA test and complains that police investigators in the UK and Poland are ignoring her. She also asks her to help her reach Kate and Gerry McCann, Madeleine’s parents.
However, German investigators suspect that Christian Brueckner killed Madeleine after kidnapping her from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Braunschweig prosecutors said in a press release. The man was officially declared a suspect last year, but has been under investigation by German authorities for two years.
