INTERNATIONAL – The UN Security Council observed a minute’s silence this Friday, February 24, to commemorate the victims of the war in Ukraine on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion. But we had to do it twice.
First, it was the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Dmytro Kouleba, who, at the end of his speech, stood up and asked for a minute’s silence “in memory of the victims of the aggression” in Moscow, as you can see in the video at the top of the article.
What comes after this ad?
A moment of reflection observed by all members of the Security Council, but which Russian Ambassador Vassili Nebenzia did not immediately respect. The latter asked to speak at the trial to demand a tribute to “all the victims of what has happened in Ukraine since 2014”.
Then the Russian delegation, in imitation, after a moment’s hesitation, rose from all the member diplomats representing the panel’s member countries.
