Jennifer Stone has been discussing dating while continuing with Austin Butler back when they were both working on Wizards of Waverly Place.
The 30-year-old actress starred on the hit Disney show as Harper, the best friend of Selena Gomez’s character Alex, for five years from 2007 to 2012.
In 2010, the Elvis actor appeared on the show as Alex’s love interest, but it was Jennifer who developed a crush on the future Oscar nominee.
“He was a huge movie fan, which we really loved,” she revealed on her Wizards of Waverly Pod podcast while answering questions from fans with David DeLuise, who played Jerry Russo.
“I thought we should go to the movies, whatever. And that was… I think Blockbuster still existed. No, maybe it was Netflix when they shipped DVDs.
Date: Jennifer Stone, 30, announced that she and Austin Butler, 31, went on a date in 2010 after the actor appeared on an episode of Wizards of Waverly Place. “He was a huge movie buff, which we really loved,” she recalled on her Wizards of Waverly podcast
She recalled choosing Swimming with Sharks.
When David suggested it might have been some kind of Netflix and Chill night, Jennifer replied “sort of.”
She then quickly added, “It wasn’t for him at all.”
Austin, 31, began dating High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens shortly after appearing on Wizards.
And they dated for nine years between 2011 and 2020.
He is now dating Cindy Crawford’s model daughter Kaia Gerber, 21.
Jennifer, who went on to become a registered nurse, admitted she “would always have a crush on any of Selena’s (TV) friends.”
That was because “ever since I was a little kid … I liked men,” she said.

Movie: Jennifer said Austin came to her house to see a movie and they chose Swimming with Sharks. When it was suggested it was some kind of “Netflix and Chill” date, Jennifer said “it wasn’t for him at all” (pictured Feb. 13 in Beverly Hills).
However, their hopes for romance were often dashed.
“A lot of times the guy would talk to me and we’d have a great time and I’d be like, ‘Oh, this is going great.'”
“And then at the end of the week they would give me their number to give to Selena.”
She added, “I don’t think Austin was one of those people, but that’s happened to me a lot, which really sucked.
“It took me many years to build my confidence around guys but I’m fine now,” she joked in a “fake scream” voice.
She and David agreed that Wizards’ strength was its ensemble cast.
Crushes: Jennifer, who played Alex’s bestie Harper on the show, admitted she had crushes on a lot of guest stars, but “at the end of the week they would give me their number to give to Selena,” but Austin didn’t
Reunion: The actress shared the story with former co-star David DeLuise during a question-and-answer session on the podcast. Both admitted they’d love to see a reunion and a show, but “it’s a matter of story and timing.”
“Like a good meal, every little spice has to come together, we had all the little spices that came in,” explained David.
“We had the 11 herbs and spices,” she agreed.
“We’ve never cared about what people think … it was made for us because we love what we do and love the people we work with.”
Both stars admitted they’re ready for a reunion show, but “it’s a matter of having the right story and timing.”
Gomez is now busy with her series Only Murders In The Building.
Her co-stars are Steve Martin and Martin Short.
In the new season, Meryl Streep has a guest role in the acclaimed series.
