On Friday, February 24th, it has been a year since Putin’s forces attacked Ukraine, leaving a trail of devastation and suffering across the country. Around 100 guests, mainly Secretary of State Florian Tursky, LH Anton Mattle, LRinEva Pawlata, LR Renè Zumtobel, LTPinSonja Ledl-Rossmann, Mayor of Innsbruck Georg Willi, Bishop Hermann Glettler and Honorary Consul of Ukraine Walter Peer, celebrated today, Friday, marks the sad anniversary of the victims of the armed conflict and has given a visible sign of solidarity – with the people of Ukraine and with the refugees.

Today is marked by peace, solidarity and compassion: After a commemorative event with literary and musical contributions at the country house, the liberation monument on Eduard-Wallnöfer-Platz in Innsbruck was illuminated in the national blue and yellow colors of Ukraine , making it visible from afar as signs of solidarity. Then the participants of the commemorative event gathered in the cathedral of St. Jakob for an ecumenical prayer for peace. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the war and its aftermath,” said LH Mattle and Mayor Willi.
