Apple Glass: The presentation of the headset is said to be delayed … but not its commercialization – Frandroid

While the presentation of Apple’s mixed reality headset was expected in the spring, it seems that the company does not intend to make the final presentation until the fall.

While we’ve been expecting a spring presentation of Apple’s first mixed reality headset, known as Apple Glass, the manufacturer doesn’t seem ready just yet to unveil its first-ever model of this kind.

In a tweet published on Friday, February 24, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is generally very well informed about Apple’s projects, explains that Apple has fallen behind in the development of its mixed reality headset and will not be ready in time for the original set.

The prediction for the bulk mailing plan is unchanged, but the likelihood of Apple’s AR/MR headset being the 1st. Meanwhile, the likelihood of the headset launching alongside the iPhone 15 in the 3Q23 is increasing. https://t.co/jqd0xtbBUs

According to the analyst from TF International Securities, “the probability of an announcement of Apple’s first AR/MR headset during the spring event is rather low”. However, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, this delay in the announcement should not change the date of the helmet’s marketing to the general public. It must be said that Apple said it initially intended to offer its helmet to developers only, before commercializing it to the general public later in the year, in the fall.

It would therefore now be more likely that Apple will present its headphones in good and due form at the same time as its new iPhone 15 and 15 Pro on a single occasion, possibly in the third quarter, in September or October. for a release before the end of the year holidays.

In a blog post published on Medium, Ming Chi Kuo goes a little further to explain the Apple Glass lag. In his opinion, this is partly due to software problems that are still not fixed a few months before the originally planned launch.

A new generation of Apple Glass is expected in 2025

In his Medium post, Ming-Chi Kuo goes a little further and already expects a second generation of mixed reality headsets to be expected in 2025. For this second generation it would be two headsets planned by Apple, with a top of the range assembled by Luxcaseict – like the model expected for this year – and a second helmet made by Foxconn.

For Apple, the risk of delaying the announcement of its mixed reality headset comes with the risk of leaks multiplying in the coming months. In fact, the manufacturer’s plan so far has been to unveil the Apple Glass well ahead of its launch, to pull the rug out from under all the leakers. From now on, if the helmet is announced just before its commercialization and after it has entered production, it is much more likely to be the subject of numerous leaks even before it is officially presented in good and proper shape.
