Sofía Carson from Barranquilla will sing at the Oscars EL HERALDO

The talent of Sofía Carson from Barranquilla will shine on the most important night of cinema: the Oscars. The singer will perform the song Applause, which is nominated for this award in the Best Original Song category.

Carson is joined by the song’s composer, Diane Warren, who is included on the Tell It Like a Woman tape and is the No. 14 North American career nominee.

This song competes with “Hold My Hand” (“Top Gun: Maverick”), “Naatu Naatu” (“RRR”), “This Is Life” (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) and “Lift Me Up” for the top spot Oscar “(“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”).

The theme, released in December 2022, has been recognized as an anthem for women.

“Our song is a women’s anthem from the powerful film ‘Tell It Like a Woman.’ A film by women, about women, for everyone. A beautiful and deeply timely reminder to applaud us for how far we’ve come and applaud us for how far we will go. Because we fight as women, we survive as women and we do it together,” Sofía shared on her Instagram when the song was released.

The Barranquillera released their self-titled debut album in 2022. In cinema, she has worked on films such as Purple Hearts, which she also executive produces, writes and soundtracked, Songbird, Feel the Beat, the Descendants trilogy and the upcoming film Carry On.

The Oscars will take place on Sunday March 12th.
