The Ravens just got a lot bigger on the offensive line.

With the 110th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the Ravens selected Minnesota offensive tackle Daniel Faalele, who measures 6ft 8 and weighed 384 pounds with the scouting combine.

Faalele is now the heaviest player in the NFL. That award previously went to Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown, who is listed at 380 pounds but has significant financial incentives in his new contract to weigh less than that as he receives bonuses each week if he weighs 365 or under.

Born and raised in Australia, Faalele grew up playing basketball and rugby until an American football coach spotted him and told him he could have a very lucrative career if he tried football. Faalele went to IMG Academy in Florida, played high school football for a year, and then committed to play in Minnesota, where he was an offensive tackle in the All-Big Ten.

In his final collegiate game, Faalele lined up at running back and ran for a touchdown. It’s probably safe to say he won’t do that in the NFL, but the Ravens believe he could make a difference as a run blocker.
