NAACP Image Awards 2023: Zendaya, Serena Williams and Angela Bassett stun on the red carpet

Zendaya made a stunning entrance in a plunging black and neon green gown, while Serena Williams, Angela Bassett and Kerry Washington stunned in fitted ensembles at the 54th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday in Pasadena.

The 26-year-old Euphoria actress, who was recently spotted filming a Bulgari campaign in France, showed off her slim physique as she walked the red carpet alongside other talented celebrities.

The 41-year-old tennis pro also braved the rainy weather and dazzled in a shaping black velvet dress, while the 64-year-old The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star beamed in a white jumpsuit.

Kerry, 46, showed off her leggy legs in a strapless dress with a thigh-high slit as she posed for a brief photo session before the annual ceremony began.

The event. hosted by Queen Latifah, honors outstanding performances and achievements of people of color in film, television, music and literature in 2022.

Showing off her slim body, Zendaya wore a fitted strapless dress that had a plunging neckline around her chest.

The dress included shades of black along with striped parts in neon green to add a unique touch to the ensemble.

The stunning dress featured a train that tumbled down behind her, made of fabric that tied around her thigh area at the back.

The former Disney actress, who acted as a presenter during the ceremony, gave a glimpse of her toned legs, which poked through a slit down the center of the dress for quite a sultry fringe.

Her brunette tresses were parted to the side and flowed down effortlessly in slight waves to almost brush the tips of her shoulders for an elegant look.

To allow the ensemble to be the main focus for the night, the Replay singer kept her accessories minimal, slipping on a silver rhinestone bracelet along with a matching ring on her right hand that sparkled in the light.

Zendaya also opted for a pair of dangling earrings, partially obscured by her voluminous locks.

The Greatest Showman star slipped on a pair of classic black heels to match the color scheme of her red carpet dress for the evening.

Her makeup was classic for the night and consisted of a coat of black mascara on her long lashes and a shimmery bronze shadow around her eyes.

A light pink blush and a touch of contour were added to better accentuate her cheekbones.

A nude matte tint was added to her lips to add the finishing touch to her overall look.

Zendaya was soon joined by Serena Williams, who also wowed in a fitted, long-sleeved black velvet dress.

The fabric hugged the pro tennis player in a short puff, while a thigh-high slit at left revealed her toned legs.

The dress featured a V-neckline that was covered in a sheer black material for a stylish punch.

The mother-of-one slipped into a pair of black closed-toe heels, which had silver rhinestone embellishments at the top for an iridescent touch.

To complete the dress, the renowned sports star wore a dainty diamond necklace along with rhinestone rings that glittered in the light. She also added a pair of sparkling dangling earrings that included black emeralds.

Serena teased her fans about her ensemble for the night by sharing a post to Instagram showing off her glamorous look before braving the rain to attend the awards ceremony.

The tennis star struck a pose in front of a piano on an ornate rug to snap a few photos.

In the caption, the beauty wrote to her 16.3million followers, “Heading to the @naacpimageawards but stopped for a quick photo.”

During the evening, a close friend, Kerry Washington, presented Williams with the Jackie Robinson Sports Award.

After taking the star-studded stage, Serena, who announced her retirement from professional tennis last year, jokingly declared, “I haven’t held up a trophy in a long time.”

She also thanked the NAACP, “which continues to accelerate change in important areas like health care, education, sports, business and more.”

Reflecting on the award, the star added, “Jackie Robinson’s impact extends well beyond sport. His legacy has empowered many African Americans across industries to dream big and go beyond the boxes that so many of us are pigeonholed, a key message that the NAACP stands for.

Concluding her heartfelt speech, Serena reiterated how grateful she was for the honor, adding that it was a “privilege” to take home the award.
