At the international level, the term blue economy is commonly used to denote the role of the seas and other water spaces as sources of wealth and the need to manage their resources efficiently and sustainably from a productive and environmental perspective.

According to Mirex, the forum also addressed the issue of protection and security of vital interests at sea and inland waters, shared by the organization’s members.
