An elderly woman aged 85 was killed in an unusual manner while walking her dog on Monday 20th. The woman was attacked and killed by an alligator about ten feet long.
Witnesses reported that the reptile grabbed the victim’s leg, dragged it into a lake and killed it there. The 85yearold managed to take a short breath and tried to hit the alligator in the muzzle with a stake, but it disappeared from the witness’s field of vision.
Before her death, the woman managed to save her dog.
Local authorities were called immediately after the incident. The alligator was caught and transported in a truck.
Alligators in Florida
The local wildlife commission said serious alligator attacks are rare in Florida, but this was the third episode to result in death in the past 12 months, putting authorities on high alert.
Threefootlong alligators are considered a threat to people, pets, and property in Florida. Each year there are approximately 10,000 calls to government agencies dealing with these animals in the state of Florida.
