The Princess of Wales channeled her late mother-in-law’s fashion prowess last night as she took part in a bold houndstooth ensemble in a Six Nations match.
Kate Middleton, 41, wore the red and white coat as she attended the England v Wales game at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium with her husband, Prince William.
Bespoke by royal favourite, Catherine Walker, the coat is a subtle nod to his mother, Princess Diana, who sported a strikingly similar look to Sandringham nearly three decades ago.
Diana turned heads in her houndstooth jacket by luxury fashion house Moschino as she joined the royal family for the christening of Princess Eugenie in December 1990.

She pulled her jacket over a high-necked black blouse and paired it with a black and white skirt in the same houndstooth pattern. The ensemble was completed with low black and red pumps and a wide brimmed red hat trimmed with a black satin ribbon.
Kate previously wore her custom jacket while visiting Stockholm, Sweden in 2018.
Last night she paired the coat with a black turtleneck dress and thick tights to ward off the February chill. Black suede ankle boots completed the look.
The Princess of Wales also carried a small cream-colored handbag and a pair of black leather-look gloves, which she later wore when she took to the stands to watch rugby.
The pair were photographed singing the national anthems in the stands before the Six Nations duel began at the Principality Stadium. England eventually defeated Wales 20-10

Kate and William cheered on opposing sides in the match. The Princess is Patron of Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League in England, while her husband has been Patron of Welsh Rugby Union since 2016
Prince William looked chic as ever in a black suit, white shirt and red and gold striped tie. Later he wore a red and white scarf outside in the evenings.

It was the first rugby match the royals had seen in person since becoming the Prince and Princess of Wales
Ahead of the game, William said: “It’s going to be a tense car ride home for the winner. If we win today, my wife won’t speak to me.
He is said to have described her ensemble as “diplomatic”.
