Jeff Bezos is out even if he was never in. Another potential bidder for the Commanders is in now.
According to the Washington Post, Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta is “involved in bidding” for the DC soccer team.
Fertitta’s bid landed at an estimated $5.5 billion, according to the report, and he’s not considered a front-runner.
He’s apparently the other previously unnamed bidder who visited the team’s facility along with Josh Harris.
The news that Fertitta is a bidder comes immediately after reports from both the New York Post and TheAthletic.com that Bezos, the founder of Amazon and owner of the Washington Post, has been banned from bidding on the Commanders.
The Washington Post did not report the fact (if they are facts) that Bezos was banned from bidding on the Commanders. In fact, the Washington Post’s Saturday night article lists Bezos as a potential buyer, without even mentioning the twice-reported bombshell that Commanders owner Daniel Snyder is refusing to accept an offer from Bezos.
While every Washington Post article directed at Bezos includes a disclaimer that he owns the publication, it is nonetheless striking that the newspaper he owns does not divulge a word of the reality that several major publications have reported, that he’s been barred from making a bid — or that the newspaper he owns doesn’t appear to be doing its own reporting on Boss Bezos being snubbed by the full-blown Boss Baby who owns the Commanders.
