Volodymyr Zelenskyy predicts Putin will fall victim to his own people: Russians will ‘find a reason to kill the killer’ – Fox News

The regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin will fall victim to an uprising by its own people, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy predicted this week.

Zelenskyi made the comments in a new documentary filmed to mark the one-year anniversary of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, which passed Thursday. In it, Zelenskyi predicts that the Russian people will “find a reason” to overthrow Putin’s regime.

“There will certainly come a moment when the fragility of Putin’s regime in Russia will be felt,” Zelenskyy said in the documentary, according to Business Insider. “Then carnivores will eat carnivores. It is very important and they will need a reason to justify it. They will remember the words of Komarov, of Zelenskyy. They will remember. They will find a reason that killing murderers.”

“Will it work? Yes. When? I don’t know,” he added.

Ukraine warned for months that Russia plans to renew its offensive sometime around the one-year anniversary of its invasion.

“Yes, it’s going to be tough and we have to be prepared for it. We must keep maximum calm,” Oleksiy Danilov, the head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, told Ukrainian TV in early February, according to The Wall Street Journal.

US defense officials echoed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s warnings and said it’s likely Putin will attempt an offensive to turn the tables after months of Ukraine reclaiming its territory.

“The situation at the front is complicated,” Zelenskyy said in a sit-down interview with Fox News’ Trey Yingst in early February. “Russia is preparing for the rematch. We can feel that. I think it’s already started or not fully. We’ll see that in the next few weeks.”
