Thinking his co pilot is pretending to be asleep, he realizes his death as soon as he lands

The story goes back to June 2022. A 57-year-old pilot died during a flight when his co-pilot thought he was napping.

He went through the flight thinking it was a joke. In June 2022, A pilot had the unpleasant surprise that his co-pilot had died during a flight in a light aircraft, a Pier PA-28-161, according to The Independent.

Heard as part of the investigation, the surviving pilot nonetheless stated that the trip went wonderfully. In reality, he thought his colleague was pretending to sleep. The two men, who knew each other well, would have had a good start to the flight. The “Survivor” pilot even said to his colleague “everything looks fine, there is nothing behind you”. The 57-year-old man is said to have died shortly after takeoff. When his colleague sees his head thrown back, he immediately thinks of a joke. And as the plane turned, the co-pilot’s head landed heavily on the pilot’s shoulder, who thought the man was pretending to sleep.

He had just passed a medical exam

When the plane landed on the runway, he realized the problem. According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the 57-year-old pilot died of a heart attack. He had undergone a routine medical check-up four months earlier, which revealed no cause for concern.

He had agreed to fly the Piper PA-28-161 from Blackpool Airport in north-west England, according to British media. As a trainer and pilot, the 50-year-old undertook private flights in light aircraft. It served in particular as an air taxi or ambulance.
