The elderly man, in his 60s, was traveling with two other snowmobiles on Federal Route 63 when he lost control of his car around 9 a.m., said Hélène St-Pierre, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec.

The victim suffered serious life-threatening injuries. His death was finally announced in the afternoon.

An investigator specializing in accident scene reconstruction went to the scene to try to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.

The first weekend of spring break was particularly difficult on the snowmobile trails, with two deaths in Tring-Jonction and Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot on Friday. A third person also died in an accident on Saturday in Saguenay.
