Jessica Chastain trips on the stairs while winning the SAG Award for George & Tammy

Jessica Chastain is compared to Jennifer Lawrence after briefly stumbling over her dress on her way to accepting a SAG award for Best Female Lead in a TV Movie or Miniseries.

After her nasty fall up the stairs, the 45-year-old actress was grabbed by the hand of Irish actor Paul Mescal and a man in the front row who rushed to her aid.

The Oscar-winning actress bounced back quickly as she recovered quickly and delivered a moving speech honoring the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Almost immediately, Twitter users noted the similarity between her fall and Lawrence’s 2013 Academy Awards swoop.

During her speech, the mother-of-two, who received the same award at last year’s ceremony, was honored for her role as Tammy Wynette in George and Tammy.

Upon accepting the trophy, the performer offered a motivational message to both aspiring and struggling actors as she said, “I’m doing a show in New York right now, I’m doing A Doll’s House and every day after the show I get to meet people at the stage door and I meet a lot of actors who tell me their stories and it reminds me of my college days.’

“Philip Seymour Hoffman came to talk to my class and I shared all his frustrating audition stories and he encouraged us to keep going even when we thought no one was watching,” she continued. ‘And he said at the end of the talk, ‘I look forward to working with each of you’. It really shocked me because it was like he created it. A few years later it came true and I had the opportunity to do a play with him.’

“I’m telling this story right now because it’s a reminder of how powerful our minds are and what our thoughts can do, so I want to say to everyone who is struggling at home, to all the actors I will meet, ‘Move on , you’re just a job away. I look forward to working with you, I see you on set and I love you,” Chastain told viewers.

Jessica paid tribute to her fellow nominees Emily Blunt (The English), Julia Garner (Inventing Anna), Niecy Nash Betts (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) and Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout) before promising to share her award with Co -Star Michael Shannon.

She said: “Thank you to the Screen Actors Guild Awards, I just have to acknowledge my fellow nominees – Amanda, Emily, Julia, Niecy. I have seen all of your performances and I am in awe of you and your talent. they are amazing… I share this with Michael Shannon who I think is one of our greatest actors.

“It’s been a dream collaboration from day one and I wouldn’t have gotten to day two without his support,” she concluded.

Chastain wore a voluminous fuchsia gown adorned with vertical ruffles at the front for the star-studded ceremony.

For the occasion, she wore her floor-length dress by Zuhair Murad with a plunging neckline, a pink lipstick and colorful statement earrings.

“Amazed by the low number of steps at the #SAGAwards, I’ve spent 70% of my life worrying about actresses climbing stairs. UPDATE: 10 seconds after I tweeted this, Jessica Chastain fell down the stairs. I blame myself,” wrote another

“Jessica Chastain fell down the stairs,” wrote a third social media user

Her almost waist-length red locks fell in straight strands down her back.

Jessica’s makeup artist Kristofer Buckle used Charlotte Tilbury products to achieve the actress’ look for the evening – which he revealed was “inspired by a punk princess”.

“Today’s look was inspired by a punk princess who matched her lips to her Gucci dress and chose a wild black winged liner on her upper lid,” he revealed – explaining that he uses the Charlotte Tilbury Feline flick in Panther to get that perfect wing on her eyes while her lip color was created with the KISSING Lipstick in Velvet Underground.

“I also applied the new Hollywood Glow Glide Highlighter in Moonlit Glow to her shoulders and cleavage,” added Kristofer, while the newly launched Pillow Talk Matte Beauty Blush Wand emphasized the actress’ natural glow.

The Molly’s Game is nominated for Showtime’s miniseries about George Jones and Tammy Wynette, the final episode of which aired in December.

The show reunited her with Michael Shannon, with whom she co-starred in the 2011 psychological thriller Take Shelter.

The show follows Tammy and George as they thunder through drugs, fights and even – in her case – shock therapy.

The duo had a dramatic and explosive marriage from 1969 to 1975, marred by issues such as his runaway alcoholism.
