Speaking to ANSA in Kyiv, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksy Reznikov expresses his “appreciation for the Italian people, the Italian government and two defense ministers: Mr. Lorenzo and Mr. Guido (ed. Lorenzo Guerini and Guido Crosetto). They are two of my friends”. Reznikov adds: “We are very happy with the support and aid package and we met with Mr. Guido at the last Ramstein in Brussels, we discussed new packages. And I’m sure when we celebrate our victory in this war, we will celebrate “with the Italian friends”.
“Right now we’re facing a slow offensive by the Russians who are using different tactics, especially at Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine,” explained Reznikov. “They deploy small groups and try to push back our line of defense, but They suffer huge casualties every day, 400/500 dead and even more wounded – he added -. They use these tactics because they use Wagner, private military groups, ex-criminals. They use their troops as cannon fodder. It’s kind of a Stalinist approach during WWII.”
“I believe that we must keep Bakhmut as a fortressbecause by doing so we are reducing their capacity for a real offensive,” added the Ukrainian Defense Minister. “We are reducing risk and waiting for a better time, when our new battalions will be trained in Europe with new techniques – added Reznikov – . And if our General Staff decides it is time to launch our counteroffensive, then we will do it.”
“My idea is that one of the biggest threats after the Russians is ‘fatigue syndrome’ in European countries Fatigue Syndrome can withhold allies’ support in this war”: Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksy Reznikov told ANSA after the Kyiv premiere of French philosopher Bernard-Henry Levy’s documentary on the war in Ukraine, a journey filmed across the country from the conflict’s early days to February became September 2022. According to Minister Reznikov, this film screams “Don’t let the exhaustion syndrome get the better of you”, “This is a war of resources”, and it is made in the name of “European values” he adds Rezhnikov -. We fight for you for ourselves, for our lives, for freedoms and I’m sure we will win this war.”
