Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation Monday, Feb. 27, rescinding Disney’s special status in his state, the latest consequence of his offensive against an alleged waking culture.
“Today the lucrative business of the Enchanted Kingdom finally comes to an end,” the Republican, who accuses the entertainment giant of indoctrinating children on LGBT+ issues, said during a news conference. Since the 1960s and the construction of the Disney World amusement park in the city of Orlando, Disney has benefited from a special status that gave it great autonomy and exempted it from most state regulations.

But relations between the Enchanted Kingdom and Mr. DeSantis soured when Bob Chapek, Disney’s ex-boss, publicly opposed a governor-sponsored law restricting the teaching of elementary school subjects related to sexual orientation.
Wokism Butcher
“Disney has spoken out against something that should only protect small children,” Ron DeSantis denounced on Monday, accusing the company of wanting to enforce an “ideology”. This amusement park near Orlando is one of the most visited in the world and the Disney brand remains one of Americans’ favorites.
The rising star of the hard right, who has openly flirted with the idea of running for the 2024 US presidential election, readily presents himself as the destroyer of wokism. Apparently, the 40-year-old accuses a group of “elite” of imposing his progressive ideology on a society that rejects it and has pledged to oppose it in his state.
