NFL: Who are the available quarterbacks?

There’s likely to be a waltz among quarterbacks in the NFL this offseason, and Carson Wentz just got added to the list of available pivots.

On Monday, the Washington Commanders released the 30-year veteran. He only played one season for the team that gave the Indianapolis Colts two draft picks to win him last year.

The commanders thus freed up $26.17 million on their payroll. The organization of the American capital teams is said to be looking for a new linchpin, as Taylor Heinicke is set to become a free agent on March 13th.

Here are the other quarterbacks who could well switch clubs in the coming weeks:

Lamar Jackson

The star player seems at odds with the Baltimore Ravens and could soon benefit from his autonomy. However, it would be surprising if the Maryland organization didn’t use its franchise player label to ensure it maintained its services. If Jackson ever really doesn’t want to wear the Ravens colors anymore, they could get a lot by trading him to one of the other teams at Goodell Circuit.

Aaron Rodgers

After a four-day retirement in complete darkness, Rodgers decided he wanted to pursue his football career. However, it looks like the Green Bay Packers are ready to move on and hand the ball to Jordan Love. However, they must find a team willing to take on his massive contract and able to handle the flamboyant personality of the holder of four NFL MVP awards.

Derek Carr

The Los Angeles Raiders recently decided to release Carr, ending a nine-year association with the quarterback. According to NFL Network, there will already be many teams who would like to offer him a new contract. This would notably be the case with the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and Carolina Panthers.

Geno Smith

Few observers would have bet Smith would have a great season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, he wasn’t even sure he was a regular before the start of training camp. The pivot, who threw 30 touchdown passes, has skyrocketed in value and is expected to break the bank in March. The Seahawks have already said they’d like to keep him, but are betting he’ll test his worth in the free-agent market.

Jimmy Garoppolo

After six seasons and a string of injuries, Garoppolo’s experience with the San Francisco 49ers is over. The 31-year-old hasn’t proven he can be an NFL number one with his time on the California roster, despite appearing in Super Bowl LIV. A team that failed to attract a big name or draft a young pivot might turn to “Jimmy G” as a last resort.
