The victim, a 45-year-old man, died Monday afternoon in New Carlisle at Bonaventure’s MRC.
The emergency services received a call around 4:30 p.m. about an accident that occurred on private property on Rue de Caen.
According to the Sûreté du Québec, the snowmobiler hit a blade of snow in a field. Alone on his machine, the person was seriously injured in the rollover. The latter was unlucky as he was not wearing a helmet. His death was eventually announced at the hospital.
A forensic examination is required. Speed may have played a role in losing control.

Elsewhere, a snowmobiler in his 60s died Sunday after crashing head-on into a tree on a trail in Saint-Cuthbert in Lanaudière.
Several other fatal accidents occurred in the days before.
On Friday, a man in his 30s died at the controls of his snowmobile in Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot in Montérégie.
Two other snowmobilers were killed on Saturday in Tring-Jonction in Beauce-Centre and in the Mars-Moulin controlled zone in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
About ten days ago, a snowmobile driver also died in the Sainte-Famille sector on the Île d’Orléans.
On average, around thirty people are killed using a snowmobile every year.
