The Mascouche fire safety department was called to respond to a fire that broke out at a residential building on rue de Bayonne, near rue de Brest.

The flames, which could be seen from afar, quickly spread to an adjacent residential building, which forced the evacuation of the residents of both houses.

Although the Mascouche fire brigade was able to contain the flames after a fierce fight against the blaze, the two houses are a total loss.

Nobody was hurt.

According to Jean-Pierre Boudreau, director of the Mascouche fire brigade, the cause of the fire is an accident.

Everything indicates that it would be stove ashes that were dumped in the garbage in front of a residential building. This would be a more common cause of fire than you might think since you have to wait at least seven days before throwing the ash out the chimney.
