At around 6:00 p.m., there was a multiple-vehicle pile-up on Highway 40, about fifty kilometers from Quebec.

Several collisions occurred at kilometer 256 to the east. The events took place near Deschambault-Grondines.
Nearly a dozen cars and a 53-foot tractor-trailer were involved. According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), there were no major or obvious injuries, but some riders suffered nerve shock.

At around 9 p.m. the tugs were still on site to pull the van from the hard shoulder. The motorway will remain closed between kilometers 254 and 257 throughout the operation. According to communications manager Hélène Saint-Pierre, it could take a few more minutes.

Weather conditions and reduced visibility in the area could be the cause of consecutive collisions.
