The Moscow Navy fired a “Kalibr” cruise missile from a submarine in the Sea of Japan at a target on the Russian coast this morning, according to a statement by the Defense Ministry as part of an exercise to improve the accuracy of ballistic throws.

According to the Russian military, the missile left the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine and hit a target in the Khabarovsk region of south-western Russia. “The ‘Kalibr’ missile hit the intended target in the Syurkum tactical field in the Khabarovsk region at the scheduled time,” the Russian Defense Ministry said while sharing a video of the launch.
Meanwhile, an air alert was announced across Ukraine at 9am this morning after surveillance groups reported that a Russian Air Force MiG-31K capable of carrying the Kinzhal hypersonic missile had taken off. Warnings about the possible danger have been issued in Kiev and in all regions of Ukraine, and the authorities recommend citizens to seek shelter. Yesterday, the spokeswoman for the joint coordinating press center of the South Ukrainian Defense Forces, Nataliya Gumenyuk, said that Russia is currently looking at new tactics for attacks on Ukraine.
