Spielberg said he doesn’t really like reviewing his films because it makes him reconsider mistakes and things that could have been done or handled differently. There is one exception though, as with all his films there is one that he finds decidedly flawless and that is ET the extraterrestrial.
«I’ve watched ET several times with my kidsmostly because I wanted them to see it with me when they were little, also because of some scenes that could be scary. AND I think ET is pretty perfect. It’s one of the few films I’ve made that I look back on fondlysaid Spielberg.
Meanwhile, the beloved filmmaker also seems to be very active at the television level, so much so that in the last few hours he has confirmed that he is working on a series based on one of the unfinished projects of the equally legendary director Stanley Kubrick , or the epic film Napoleon Bonaparte the director wanted to make after the success of 2001: A Space Odyssey, admitting it would be “the best movie ever” if it were successful.
Like so many of the director’s other “lost ideas”, despite the meticulous planning and the choice of the protagonist – having thought of Marlon Brando and setting his sights on Jack Nicholson – the project never materialized and became something of an iconic title for film fans and nurtures constantly maintains its reputation as an unfinished masterpiece. A legend, however, ready to hit the screen thanks to another of the greatest directors of all time, who attended the award ceremony in Berlin, where he was received the Golden Bear for his lifetime achievementconfirmed that he is still working on the series.
And you, what do you think? Do you agree with Spielberg’s words about ET and his choice or would you have specified another film? As always, let us know in the comments.
