‘Cachi’ Ferreira formed a great duo with Mauricio Montes in 2013, finished runners-up with now-Cusco FC and scored goals in the Copa Libertadores.
When remembering a really garcilaso and his great campaign at the 2013 Copa Libertadores, it’s inevitable to talk about it Victor Ferreira. ‘Cachi’ replaced striker Andy Pando and established himself as one of the best players in the side led by Freddy ‘Petróleo’ García without having to equal him in the number of goals scored. The Paraguayan striker, along with Mauricio Montes, formed one of the most iconic attacking pairs in Peruvian football in recent times.
Víctor Ferreira had the best games of his career with what is now Cusco FC and it was the team with which he played the most games and scored the most goals. He stayed until the early months of 2015 and has since declined in importance in Peruvian football compared to his time at Real Garcilaso. What happened to “Cachi” Ferreira?

Víctor Ferreira and his successful time at Real Garcilaso
Víctor Ferreira joined Peruvian football as a new signing for Real Garcilaso for the 2013 season. Both Andy Pando and Ramón Rodríguez left the club after a great 2012, prompting the Paraguayan and Mauricio Montes to make them forget. The debut of both came in an undeniable 4-0 win over Sport Huancayo in the first game of the Descentralizado, with each of them scoring a goal.
Along with Alfredo Ramúa, Rolando Bogado and Montes, Ferreira was one of the few to play more than 40 games in the local tournament that year. He scored 13 goals and was the second-highest goalscorer behind his attacking partner, who still scored one. In the Copa Libertadores, he scored with a header against Cerro Porteño, provided two assists and was part of the historic goal for ‘Chapu’ in Asunción.
Unfortunately, 2014 was not a very good year for either “Cachi” Ferreira or Real Garcilaso. Apart from ending his relationship with ‘Petróleo’ García, the squad failed to qualify for any international tournament and the Paraguayan was overshadowed by the return of Ramón Rodríguez. He only scored six goals and one in the Copa Libertadores against the University of Chile.
What happened to Victor Ferreira?
‘Cachi’ Ferreira became one of Ayacucho FC’s most promising signings for the 2015 season. However, he managed to score just one goal all year, cutting off the rest of the forwards in a side that avoided relegation on the final day. In the following seasons he played for Sport Huancayo and Binacional, clubs where he scored more goals but never caught the eye as he did at Real Garcilaso.

Víctor Ferreira’s last team was General Díaz from his country and he retired aged just 33 due to constant knee injuries. In 2020, he told Crónica de Paraguay that he aspires to be a great sports director and that he has already studied and graduated from DT both in Peru and in his country. Finally, in 2021 he made his debut as technical director of the “Aviator”.
