INTERNATIONAL – Two real stars. Former US leader Donald Trump and ex-Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro received a warm welcome this Saturday, March 4, for their visit to CPAC, a major annual gathering that brings together the American conservative right.
As you can see in the video at the top of the article, Jair Bolsonaro has been particularly applauded for showing his closeness to Donald Trump or expressing doubts about the veracity of his October presidential defeat. “I had more support in 2022 than in 2018 and I don’t understand why the numbers say the opposite,” he began to cheers from the assembly.

Providence men
Speaking to a full house with the help of a translator, he touched on all the issues dear to the heart of America’s Trumpist right, from transgender people’s rights to criticism of the Covid vaccine and the “threat” to socialists.
And just like the former Brazilian president he inspired, Donald Trump spoke at the end of the day and posed as a man of providence. The man aspiring to be re-picked by Republicans as their 2024 presidential nominee against Joe Biden has warned he’s the only one in his camp capable of defending the United States from the “warmonger” anyway Save Democrats as “fanatics and fools” within the Republican Party. Understand all who oppose him.
He also declared that he was the only one who could prevent “a third world war” and that if re-elected he would settle the war between Ukraine and Russia “in less than a day”.

Bolsonaro flees to Florida
Jair Bolsonaro fled to the United States on December 30, just before Lula’s January 1 inauguration, and, as tradition dictates, refused to hand over the presidential sash to his successor.
On January 8, belatedly and with lip service, he denounced his supporters’ attack on Brasilia’s institutions. Although he denies any responsibility for the operation, he is the subject of an investigation by his country’s Supreme Court to determine his role in the attack. However, he recently indicated that he wants to return to his country. “I have the feeling that my mission is not over yet,” he said again on Saturday and, like Donald Trump, caressed the hope of a return to business.
