A passenger died Friday afternoon as a result of severe turbulence from a jet as it flew across the New England skies.

The jet, a Bombardier Challenger 300, had only five people on board, including three passengers. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation to try to understand the circumstances that led to this sad event.
The flight left New Hampshire for Virginia. While flying over Connecticut, he encountered fierce winds that caused the turbulence.
Other crew members also sustained serious injuries.
A preliminary report is expected within two to three weeks.
