Ottawa: Drunk driving, he speeds 100 mph in the middle of a storm

A tipsy motorist who was speeding in the middle of a storm ignored basic safety instructions on Ontario roads overnight Friday through Saturday, losing his privilege to drive.

According to the OPP, the driver was traveling at a speed of 160 km/h on snow-covered roads near Renfrew in the Ottawa area in a 90 km/h zone. The event happened right during the storm, which left about 25 cm of snow in the area.

To make matters “worse,” the driver failed a breathalyzer test during his interception, according to police.

The driver was arrested and faces dangerous driving charges, which come with an automatic 30-day license suspension and 14-day vehicle impound.
