The jihadist group alQaeda confirmed this Sunday (05) the death of one of the terrorist group’s leaders in Yemen in a suspected American bomb attack last month, according to the organization Site Inteliggence Group.
The death of Saudi Arabian Hamad bin Hamoud alTamimi in Marib province was reported to AFP last Wednesday (5) by Yemeni authorities. He was one of the top commanders of AQAP (AlQaeda in the Arabian Peninsula).
The jihadist was killed in a drone attack on his home, AQPA reported, quoted by Site Inteliggence Group, an organization specializing in extremist groups.
In the statement, AQAP introduced him as a “media officer” who managed the group’s foreign operations, including some against U.S. interests.”
According to the organization AQAP, Tamimi spent almost four years in detention in Saudi Arabia before traveling to Yemen in 2013 before the civil war between government supporters, backed by Riyadh, and Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, began.
AQAP carried out attacks in Yemen against both Houthis and government forces and took responsibility for actions in the United States and Europe.
