2 United Planes Wings Clip at Logan Airport in Boston; No injuries – NBC10 Boston

Two planes bound for Boston Logan International Airport had their wings cut off Monday morning when one drove away from its gate.

The incident happened just before 9 a.m. A United plane bound for Newark, New Jersey made contact with a United plane bound for Denver, Massport said. The plane to Newark was towed by a United vehicle.

No one was injured in the incident, according to Massport and United Airlines, which confirmed that flights 515 and 267 had their wings cut off when one was pushed back from the gate.

“Customers on both aircraft disembarked normally and we have made arrangements to shuttle them to their destinations on different aircraft,” United said in a statement.

A picture of the planes showed the wing of one plane touching the tail of another.

The airline’s official Twitter account responded to a tweet that appeared to show the wing of one plane touching the tail of another, confirming an incident they were working on.

“We are sorry to see that this was your experience. Our teams are aware of this and are working on the best timely solution. We understand how frustrating delays are, and we’re sorry your trip was impacted,” the response read.

A private plane took off without permission as a JetBlue attempted to land at Logan Airport Monday night.

The incident came less than a week after two planes at the airport had what the Federal Aviation Administration called a “close call” in which a small jet taking off without a permit crossed the path of a JetBlue plane that was flying was forced to take evasive action during landing.
