Ukraine prisoner killed video Kyiv quotCrime Russiaquot

Ukraine, prisoner killed video. Kyiv: "Crime Russia"

A terrifying video of a Ukrainian prisoner being shot dead by Russian soldiers for shouting “Honour to Ukraine”. The video circulated on Telegram and was quoted on Twitter by Anton Gerashenko, an adviser to the Interior Ministry in Kyiv, who only showed a “very difficult to see” snippet of the video. “Eternal memory and glory for the Ukrainian hero,” adds Gerashenko. In the video, the soldier is filmed smoking a cigarette. Anyone who speaks to him replies “Glory to Ukraine”: Then shots are fired and the soldier falls to the ground.

Requests for an investigation into war crimes are coming from Kiev. “Glory to the hero! Honor the heroes! Glory to Ukraine!” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter, in white letters on a black background, with a clear reference to the video. “A video was released of the invaders brutally killing a militant who bravely shouted ‘Glory to Ukraine!’ said to his face. I want us all to respond as one to his words: ‘Glory to the hero! Glory to the heroes of Ukraine!’ And we will find his killers,” Zelenskyy wrote in another message.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says this is further “proof” that the Russian invasion of Ukraine amounts to “genocide”. “It is imperative that Karim Khan QC immediately launch an investigation into this horrific war crime,” he tweeted, referring to Ukraine’s prosecutor at the International Criminal Court: “Those responsible must be brought to justice,” he added.

“The killing of a prisoner of war is another war crime of the Russian Federation – tweeted the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office Andiy Yermak – elements of a systematic terror policy that is obscured by Kremlin propaganda with its myths about ‘Nazis’. There will be penalties for each of these war crimes. No one will escape justice. We will find them all.” Yermak then tweets “Glory to Ukraine.”
