Charles Bronson wants to get out of prison and make art

Britain’s most dangerous prisoner, Charles Bronson, said at his public parole hearing on Monday that he had changed and wanted out of prison to “do his thing”.

Charles Bronson, 70, has been in prison almost continuously for 48 years, much of it in solitary confinement.

Recall that in 1974, after a failed robbery, the former boxer was sentenced to seven years in prison. His prison violence, including the taking of hostages, earned him successive sentence extensions.

At his public parole hearing, which began on Monday, he said he deserves “a good 35 years” and is very afraid of dying in prison, The Guardian reported.

He said he spends 23 hours a day in his cell making art. He hinted that he had changed and regretted his past actions. He now wishes he could go out and “do his art.”

As reported by The Guardian, Charles Bronson wore a dark suit and sunglasses. He said he wore his dark glasses to protect his eyes, which have become sensitive to light from repeated isolation over the years.

The hearing is scheduled to continue on Wednesday, while a closed session is scheduled to take place on Friday.
