In a press conference chaired by President Luis Abinader, Labor Minister Luis De Camps reported on the increase, saying: “This new salary will cover 93 percent of the family basket of employees in large companies, 85 in medium-sized companies and 57 in micro- and small-sized companies.” .
Abinader recalled that last November he had promised the union sector that his government’s goal was to increase workers’ real wages as part of its “social commitment” to real economic and social development in the Dominican Republic.
The increases did not come to the desired extent, but it was achieved that the purchasing power of our employees did not deteriorate, this is the result of consensus negotiations, he stressed.
For his part, the President of the National Confederation of Union Unity, Rafael Abreu, indicated that he was not satisfied with the increase, but their struggle is increasing, which is why, based on the successes achieved, they would continue to fight.
