The US President’s official visit was confirmed by the White House and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office. The US President’s wife, Jill Biden, will be part of the delegation.

During his two-day visit, Mr. Biden will address Parliament. Many issues are on the agenda, including trade relations, the war in Ukraine, the modernization of NORAD and the defense of the North American continent, and the crisis rocking Haiti.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised to raise the issue of Roxham Road, Quebec during the US President’s visit. Thousands of migrants pass through this route each year after irregularly crossing the Canada-US border to seek asylum in Canada. The Quebec government has been calling for Roxham Road to be closed for several months.

“Canada and the United States are allies, neighbors, and most importantly, friends. In the face of global uncertainty, we will continue to work together to defend our continent and our shared values, create more opportunities for people and businesses on both sides of the border, and build strong economies as reliable suppliers as we move toward a zero-carbon world . I look forward to welcoming President Biden to Canada,” Justin Trudeau said in a press release.
