Anyone born in the ’90s will surely recognize the character Doug Funnie from the cartoon “Doug”. The plot follows the elevenyearold’s problems and his adventures alongside his friends. He has a habit of journaling everything and fantasizing that he is actually a superhero.
Created by Jim Jinkins and David Ray Campbell, the animated series originally aired between 1991 and 1999 on channels such as Nickelodeon and ABC.
In Brazil it was shown on TV Cultura, SBT and Band. Produced by Jinkins Production Company and Jumbo Pictures, Inc, the design is from the book Doug Got a New Pair of Shoes.
The name “Doug” was given to the main character after Jinkin’s godson, Doug Eckhardt, became the dean of historical arts at the University of Pennsylvania.
The superhero Quail Man was created by an invention of the creator himself in childhood. He decided to turn the idea into reality through the series, so Doug had the same imagination.
