A tender issued by the Quebec Outdoor Facilities Society (SÉPAQ) proposes clearing a portion of a forested area to create a parking lot near the Quebec Aquarium.

There are currently three parking spaces available for visitors to the aquarium.
Two of these, P2 and P3, are owned by the Commission de la capitale national du Québec (CCNQ).
In a few months, visitors to the tourist attraction will no longer be able to access these two parking lots due to works near the Quebec Bridge and the Pierre Laporte Bridge.
SÉPAQ, which manages Aquarium de Québec, is betting on a nearby wooded area that could serve as parking for tourists.

We do not know the exact area of forest area that needs to be cut down, but several trees will need to be sacrificed in order to proceed with the park project.
A citizen who is committed to sustainable mobility regrets the park project as well as the approach of the national company.
“We know that these huge parking lots encourage sedentariness […] it promotes a whole range of diseases […] Air pollution alone costs us $30 billion a year in Quebec,” says Johanne Elsener, President of Santé Urbaine.
Keep in mind that the area near Aquarium du Québec is heavily used by motorists.
