Update for the latest…: Paramount/Spyglass Media’s Scream VI has carved its way to a franchise-record launch at the worldwide box office $67.1M, beating Scream 3 for best in group in this long-running series created by Kevin Williamson. It also got off to a great start as a franchise at the international box office $22.6M from 53 markets, a whopping 60% above the 2022 scream. Domestic was also a record start.

Ghostface’s return achieved the best start for the franchise in 29 individual markets, including the UK, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Italy and the Netherlands.

From filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and starring Wednesday phenomenon Jenna Ortega, the best unmasking of Scream VI was in the United Kingdom with $3.6 million from 627 locations, up 22% year-on-year. France debuted at $3.5M at 427, 110% over Scream 2022. Both the UK and France landed at #2 behind Creed III, which showed strong holding power (more on that below).

Australia gave Scream VI a #1 launch with $2 million from 262 locations, up 45% from last year’s Scream. Mexico also grossed $2 million, at #2, for 55% more scares than the previous film; And Brazil had a #1 launch with $1.8 million (55% above Scream).

Overall, however, it was MGM’s Creed III that saw it top the international charts this weekend $24M from 75 markets. Published by Warner Bros overseas (excluding Nordic countries), Threequel had a 43% drop and still ranks ahead of its predecessors in like-for-likes: 110% above Creed and 35% above Creed II. The international cume through Sunday is $78M with global at $179.4M.

France continues to lead the game with $12.4 million, followed by the United Kingdom ($11.3 million), Germany ($7.9M), Italy ($5.9M) and Mexico ($5.9M).

Disney/Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has arrived $249.6M international to a $9.8M Weekend in 52 markets (-56%). The global cume to date is $447.6M. On a like-for-like basis, excluding China, Quantumania has surpassed the total circulation of the first Ant-Man film by 10% and is 13% below the final tally of Ant-Man and The Wasp.

The top 5 markets are China ($39M), the United Kingdom ($22.1M), Mexico ($17.4M), France ($12.6M) and Korea ($12.5M).
