A body found in a forest is the girl who has been missing in Germany since Saturday.
The 12-year-old girl from Freudenberg, in south Westphalia, Germany, who had been missing since Saturday night, is now dead. . For reasons of investigation tactics, it has not yet been possible to provide information on the cause of death.
During searches, police found the body of a woman in a wooded area on Sunday afternoon. The location where the child was last seen around 5:30 pm on Saturday is not far from where she was found. The search for the 12-year-old was initially halted after the body was found.
The child was last seen walking home after visiting a friend. The shortest way to get there is through a patch of forest. Freudenberg is located on the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate and is part of the district of Siegen-Wittgenstein.
The police, along with the fire department, began a full-scale search on Saturday. Area search dogs and “mantrailer” dogs specializing in people search were there. During the night, a helicopter with a thermographic camera flew over the area. The search was overnight.
