Pierre Poilievre a new dynamic in the rest of Canada

Next federal budget: These are the three priorities of the Conservatives

Canada’s Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre wants a federal budget that “works for working people.” Here are the party’s three priorities.

“It doesn’t make good sense,” Pierre Poilievre said at a news conference on Sunday, accusing Canada’s prime minister of being behind the rising cost of living.

“After eight years of Justin Trudeau, Canadians are unable to pay their housing, food and energy bills,” he said, adding that “one in five Canadians is skipping meals.”

The Conservative Party leader hopes the next federal budget will “bring us common sense back”.

“[Un budget] bring home bigger paychecks, bring home prizes, bring affordable houses and apartments.”

Three axes

First, Conservatives want “a system that rewards hard work and encourages more hard work” with higher wages and lower taxes.

To bring prices down, the party also wants to end carbon tax hikes and deficit spending that push up inflation and interest rates.

Finally, Poilievre said he wanted to provide more affordable housing, including “cutting red tape” to speed up obtaining building permits.

“We want a country that works first and foremost for workers,” he said.

Recall that Canada’s Treasury Secretary Chrystia Freeland announced on Friday that the next federal budget will be presented on Tuesday, March 28th.
