Character Pocahontas was created by Walt Disney pictures. She first appeared in the 1995 film based on an Indian woman named Matoaka.

In the story she is the daughter of an indigenous chief and is adventurous and brave until she breaks the rules of her own people to have great adventures.

Its creation took place in 1990 when director Mike Gabriel reused the appearance of Tiger Lily from Peter Pan to create a first version featuring the character.

Although the project was abandoned, five years later, Disney resumed production based on an Indigenous woman named Mataoka.

Glen Keane traveled to the state of Virginia where he had an opportunity to meet direct descendants of India.

Belongs to the characters in the animated film nakoma, a member of the Powhatan tribe and best friend of Pocahontas. At first she distrusts the English colonists and later understands their goals.
