Lebanese communists demand a democratic state without interference

During a protest march, militants, trade unionists and social and political figures expressed citizens’ pain at the collapse and affirmed the insistence on confronting the corrupt class in order to restore people’s rights.

COMMUNIST PROTESTS

The mobilization started in Hamra’s central capital street in front of the Bank of Lebanon and ended in the vicinity of Parliament, led by its Secretary General Hanna Gharib and Deputy Osama Saad, leader of the Nasserist People’s Organization.

At the rally, Gharib condemned the sectarian political system and its impact behind the crisis in most functions of state institutions; and in the disintegration of public utility systems related to electricity, water, transportation, health, education and housing.

At the same time, the communist representative called for a state capable of liberating its occupied lands from the Israeli enemy and protecting its oil and gas wealth; in addition to supporting a national cause and against all forms of interference, orders and foreign pressure.

For his part, Saad stressed the need to launch a political front to confront the system of government that controls the fate of the people under unprecedented economic and financial pressures.

The Nasserist leader warned of a worsening of the situation after the failed policies of the cult and capital system.

Under the motto “There is no choice but to confront,” participants raised banners and insisted on the urgency of continuing the fight.

Since October 31 last year, Lebanon has been surmounting the obstacles of a dual power vacuum following the end of the Presidential term of Michel Aoun and the interim government of Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

In this scenario, the devaluation of the national currency until the exchange rate reaches 92,000 pounds per dollar, the high prices of fuel and basic necessities together with the decrease in purchasing power make the economic and social situation of the country more complex Levantine.
