Quebec Family Film Festival: Four awards for Katak, the brave beluga

The film Katak, the brave beluga won four awards at the Quebec Family Film Festival.

The Quebec animated film from 10e Ave Productions received four awards: Audience Choice, Special Mention (Young Jury), Best Screenplay and Best Art Direction.

“FCEQ Best Screenplay Award! Wow! Thank you to the jury for letting yourself be carried away by this tender and perilous voyage in the waters of the St. Lawrence. Thank you for being touched by Katak’s story. It’s a reward that goes straight to my heart,” screenwriter Andrée Lambert said in a press release today.

Katak the Brave Beluga has grossed $1.4 million at the box office since its February 24 release, including $1,231,294 in Quebec.

The animated film had won the audience award at the Montreal International Children’s Film Festival (FIFEM) ex aequo.

“It’s fantastic to see the public across Quebec being seduced by new characters, wanting to discover original stories and immerse themselves in our marine universe. Thank you to Quebec City residents, the Capitale-Nationale, for their support and encouragement,” said Nancy Florence Savard, President of 10e Ave Productions.

Katak, the Brave Beluga is the fifth feature film from Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures production house, 10th Ave Productions, which has signed The Legend of Sarila, Nelly and Simon: Mission Yéti, Le coq de St-Victor and The Ship from storms.

In this animated film we find the voices of Yves Jacques, Ginette Reno, Ludivine Redding, Mario Saint-Amand, Jeff Boudreault, Maxime Le Flaguais, Guylaine Tremblay, Marie-Thérèse Fortin and Benoît Brière.
