Keanu Reeves started the week by turning down a marriage proposal when an amorous superfan popped the question on Monday.
The ultimate compliment came to the 58-year-old icon during an onstage Q&A session following the premiere of John Which: Chapter 4 at the South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
According to Variety, Reeves shared with the audience how he kept his character’s watch and wedding ring as mementos, which sparked a would-be fiancee’s outburst.
‘I’ll marry you!’ the fan explained, prompting a hilarious response from Keanu, “Yeah, be careful what you wish for.”
If Reeves had accepted the proposal, it would have been his first marriage as the action star never tied the knot.

In addition to the surprise proposal, Keanu received enthusiastic reactions from audiences after screening John Wick: Chapter 4, which premieres in theaters on March 24.
Keanu appeared on stage alongside director Chad Stahelski and said, “You guys are amazing. Thank you for this experience. You guys are freaking awesome.’
But the future of the blockbuster franchise seems uncertain after Stahelski revealed both he and Keanu are “done for now.”
Speaking to , Stahelski revealed that he and Reeves plan to rest the franchise after releasing four films in nine years.
“In our eyes, Keanu and I are done for now. We’re going to give John Wick a break. I’m sure the studio has a plan. If everyone likes it and it gets crazy, then we take a quiet minute.”
He added that at the end of the press tour in Japan, he and Reeves will be reflecting on the future of the franchise
The director said, “Keanu and I are going to make the long journey to Tokyo, we’re going to sit in the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar and say, ‘What do you think?’
“We’re going to have some 20-year-old whiskeys and write some ideas on napkins. If these ideas stick, maybe we’ll make a film.”

Reeves will return alongside franchise regulars Ian McShane (Winston), Lance Reddick (Charon) and Laurence Fishburne (Bowery King).
Newcomers making their franchise debut in Chapter 4 include international action icon Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Scott Adkins, Natalia Tena and Clancy Brown.
Chad Stahelski is directing from a screenplay by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch, based on characters created by Derek Kolstad.
It has also been confirmed that Reeves and McShane will return as John Wick and Winston in the upcoming spin-off Ballerina Starring Ana de Armas.
