NFL: Baker Mayfield to succeed Tom Brady at the Buccaneers?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to find a new quarterback after Tom Brady retired earlier this winter, and they have their sights set on Baker Mayfield Wednesday.

According to ESPN, the two parties have agreed to a one-year, $8.5 million deal.

Mayfield will have big shoes to fill next year after Brady left the NFL after playing the last three campaigns of his career with the “Bucs” and winning a Super Bowl in the process. The former Cleveland Browns started last year with the Carolina Panthers, who brought him in before the start of the season. He wasn’t convincing enough, however, so the Charlotte team put him on waivers after seven games played.

The Los Angeles Rams took the opportunity to challenge him. In 12 total games, the 27-year-old center had 2,163 yards and 10 touchdowns against eight interceptions.
